According to a recent New York Times article by Pamela Paul, bullying is rampant in preschool and Kindergarten. I feel that bullying is not a “new” issue. Many years ago, I myself experienced the tortures of bullying as a young child. Gratefully, the media has put a spotlight on this issue, and the wounds of bullying have been brought into people’s consciousness. The more children realize the effects of their words, actions, thoughts and feelings on themselves and others, the more hope we have in creating a human consciousness filled with a tolerance. As the saying goes…WE are the changes we want in the world. I passionately believe that early childhood is the key time to invest in the quality of a child’s education, including the teaching of core character-building values and the development of a healthy self-esteem. Every children’s concert, each award-winning CD, every song and story that I have written all embrace our mutual intention of building a generation that reinforces a healthy emotional and social IQ.
