   A Cheryl Melody Concert will provide:  

Meaningful, Character-Building MUSIC:  Fun, Expansive, Consciousness-Raising, Nurturing, Hugely Interactive. 

WORDS:  CONSCIOUSLY and purposefully written to teach character building values of respect for self, each other and the earth;  Multi-cultural language exposure

COMMUNITY BONDING, GROUP BONDING:  Special attention is given to create an environment  where everyone feels warmth and acceptance, and there is a feeling of being together as one music family, one planet of love, joy, positivity, tolerance, caring and respect

CREATIVE MOVEMENT:    For Young Children’s concerts: Structured, gentle creative movement, developing coordination, focus, concentration, memory, sequencing, joy!

 For Elementary School concerts:  Structured movement that helps a child  to remember key words and concepts for the teaching programs, “Peace Begins with Me-We’re Bully Free!” and “Peace Begins with Me.”

STORYTELLING/LITERACY READINESS: Stories with meaning, poetry, quotations, literacy foundation development

DRAMATIC PLAY ACTING:   Children in preschool are part of every story, acting out the characters, voices and sounds.

For early childhood, you will receive an investment in music, creative movement, storytelling, imagination, creativity, words that raise awarness towards manners, sharing, caring, respect, cooperation and love…along with values that encourage love for self, each other and the earth.

CHARACTER-BUILDING VALUES: Self-esteem, inclusion, tolerance, manners, respect, effective communication, multi-cultural understanding, listening, sharing, feelings, love

CREATIVITY:  Imagination, interactive dramatic play, opening up creativity and self-expression, joy!

MULTICULTURAL PUPPETS: Multi-cultural puppets and other puppets are used as tools for storytelling and songs, and to help children feel safe and hear the words of a values oriented story or song in a new way.  My puppets come in different sizes, so even the elementary groups relate to the puppet sections of the concert.

Even young children are mesmerized with the Tibetan singing bowl, referred to as the Golden Imagination Bowl and it is often used in early childhood concerts, “The Musical Imagination Adventure Concert” and birthday parties during imagination time.

RHYTHM INSTRUMENTS, SCARVES, STREAMERS:  Used for younger children’s concerts as tools for movement, songs and musical concepts, bonding

MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCE APPROACH (Howard Gardner, Harvard University): The various  intelligences of the child is woven throughout the concert-verbal linguistic, mathematical logical, naturalistic, visual spatial, musical, kinesthetic and more!

ADDRESSING THE WHOLE CHILD:  Activities that develop: Listening skills, observation skills, focus, concentration, coordination, focus

“2 in 1” TEACHING APPROACHES: Early Childhood Concerts: In younger concerts, I simultaneously teach the adults how to integrate a whole child music program, while at the same time engaging the children

PEACE BEGINS WITH ME/PEACE BEGINS WITH ME-WE’RE BULLY FREE TEACHING CONCERTS:   I have created an original method called WAFT (words, actions, feelings, thoughts).  I weave this approach throughout every interactive song, poem, story, dialogue. I also create many suggestions that can be continued by teachers after the concert is over.

In the “Peace Begins with Me” and “Peace Begins with Me-We’re Bully Free” Teaching Concerts, children will receive interactive and meaningful songs that teach tolerance, awareness, respect for self, each other and the earth.  I also integrate storytelling, unique instrumental vibrations, multi-cultural puppets, quotes from Martin Luther King and other great leaders, poetry, and my own approach to learning ways to “be” peace, called the WAFT approach.  These concerts are for preschool and elementary school ages.

UNIQUE VIBRATIONAL INSTRUMENTS, MULTICULTURAL INSTRUMENTS: Singing Bowls, Gong, Conch Shell and multicultural instruments are used in many types of concerts.  These tools are used in the “Peace Begins with Me” concerts and the “Peace Begins with Me-we’re Bully Free” Teaching Concerts primarily. 

RAPS: For the older children, rhythmic raps are also integrated for remembering certain concepts in encouraging tolerance, respect, anti-bullying, anti-bias and inclusion 

EMOTIONAL IQ, INTELLECTUAL IQ:  Igniting the WHOLE child is important to me…the body, mind and emotional spirit!

Multi-dimensional Performing Artist: I am a multi-dimensional performing artist, using many aspects all rolled into one joyful concert!

As I perform, I always consider myself a “teacher” first,  teaching and reaching the child and adult from inside-out

ADULTS PROGRAMS:  Filled with hope, heart, unity, love, sound healing, joy
